ALFA - Assisted Living Facility Affirmation

ALFA is a Thursday morning 10-10:30 AM Church Service at Homewood Assisted Living in Sun City Center. There is trivia, music, and a devotion each week led by Pastor Tom.

Prayer Quilters Ministry

Mission Statement

To prayerfully sew quilts to gift to one who is ill or grieving. To give comfort, love and hope from the Ruskin Methodist Church.


This ministry has been ongoing for 20 years. We gather on the second Wednesday of each month. We create quilts using a unique cross pattern with a heart in the center that represents our group. Most of our materials are donated, and all labor is volunteered.


To date, we have made 409 quilts. Our greatest reward is receiving letters from recipients who share how much comfort and love they felt when they

received one.



You don’t have to be a quilter to participate. Much of our monthly time is spent selecting fabric, cutting squares, and tying quilts—each an important

part of the process. If you enjoy sewing, that’s wonderful, but it is not required to join this meaningful ministry.


We cherish the fellowship we share during our gatherings and would love more people to join this amazing group. And yes—men are welcome too if

they’d like to participate!

R.O.C.K. KIDS

This outreach ministry is geared toward our community with activities that include Fall Fest, Breakfast with Santa, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School.


There are opportunities to lead the Children’s Sermon and Junior Church.

Thrift Store

An important ministry to the community and our church.


Thrift Store work day is Tuesday 9 to 12 PM.

Store Hours are Friday & Saturday 9 to 1 PM.

Picnic in the Park

This ministry is focused on feeding the homeless in the local park along the Ruskin Inlet.

Every 1st and 2nd Monday of each month from 4-5:00 PM in the park.


Following is a list of current needs for Picnic in the Park guests. 

Please place your donations in the bin labeled "DONATIONS" located just inside the Picnic in

the Park closet:


Travel size Hygeine:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Deodorant (Men/Women)
  • Lotion 
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Dental Floss
  • 1st Aid Kits (small)
  • Feminine Pads


Other:

  • Insect repellants - wristbands and sprays
  • Blankets - small
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Underwear (Men/Women - Sm - XL)
  • Sweatshirts (Men/Women - Med - XL)

Gracious Grocer

Dinner in a bag that is available in the back pew by the church office. Non-perishable food for two.


Everyone is welcome to take a bag for a friend, neighbor, or family member who may need a break from shopping.


This month we are collecting the following:

  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Boxed stuffing
  • Evaporated milk
  • Fruit cocktail
  • Jell-O
  • Dessert mixes that require only water
  • Biscuit mixes that require only water or milk
  • Turkey or chicken gravy mixes
  • Canned or jarred pasta sauces


Please keep in mind: Each bag is intended to provide 2–4 servings. Super-sized or family-sized products do not work well for our bags, so please choose regular-sized packages whenever possible.


Donations can be left on the back pew by the church office.
